    Contemplating 52 Questions

Did you have a blessed Valentine’s weekend.  I hope so!  And, maybe you had time to prepare for our wintry weather this week.  I hope you still have power and are warm! 🙂 Onward to today’s topic.  Do you receive devotionals but save them for later?  If I receive a devo as a gift when already into another one, I shelve the new one for the next year (or month, etc., whatever the duration of my current one). Several years ago, I even received four devos at one time as a thank-you to hubs and me for hosting a DNOW weekend for our youth.  It took a while to read…

  • Reminders

    Who Needs Reminders?

I hear it all the time. I forgot why I walked into this room! Every day.  Many times a day.  It’s nothing new. In every season, we all need reminders. In my last post, when I asked you if you’ve chosen Your Word for 2021, did you say to yourself, Nah . . . I don’t stick to it, so why fool with choosing a word? I’m thrilled to give you a solution!  Plan now to combat any future abandonment of your word. It’s easy to join Lisa at Lisa Notes for her  One Word 2021 Community.  I thought maybe you’d like to join with me in Lisa’s community.  When…

  • Word for Year 2021

    Your Word for 2021

Did you have a merry Christmas?  Oh, I pray so.  If you’re in a tough season right now, could we call it a blessed Christmas at least?  When we praise God for His blessings, He turns the blessed feelings back to us.  Amen? Maybe you’re like others who are glad to get another milestone of 2020 behind us – and get closer to moving on to 2021 ahead.  And, by the way, could we not even have a calm Christmas in 2020?  Our peace could have taken a hit from the Nashville bombing, but we know the Source of true peace.  For believer/embracer sisters, our peace is in Christ.  Can…

  • Christmas Giving 2020

    A 2020 Christmas Day Alternative

Are you ready for Christmas?  Ready or not, here it comes!  🙂 Will you actually gather with anyone other than immediate family this year?  Ugh, this is the hardest part (for me, anyway).  Of all our changes and squelches this year, giving up our family Dirty Santa is probably the worst. Rather than focus on what we CAN’T do, I decided we should find a new way to celebrate – at least for this year.  We might even continue it in future years and start a new tradition!  I hesitated to share our plan with you earlier in December.  I didn’t want to seem braggy . . . like, “touch…

  • A Season of Letting Go

    A Season of Letting Go

I’m sure you’ve seen this verse before, but God brought it back to me last week when thinking of how to explain part of what’s been going on in my teensy corner of the world this summer. . . . But forget all that – it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.  For I am about to do something new.  See, I have already begun!  Do you not see it?  I will make a pathway through the wilderness.  I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.  (Isaiah 43:18-19)  . . . God has blessed us with many things, and sometimes He is ready to do a…

  • Health Limits Us

How Anything But Optimal Health Limits Us In All Seasons

Neighbors, Welcome Into My Kitchen! Excuse me while I freshen things for company.  I have my face on this morning, so no more Instagram pictures  like I shared last weekend, surrounded by Christmas clutter sans make-up.  (Horrors!  And, please follow me.)  Dusting my hands off now with Christmas decor all boxed up (woohoo!).  All I lack now is bribing hubs to pack away the Christmas Tree of Hope. A question for you:  As you look back at the long line of hills and valleys of your life, through hard seasons and celebratory times, can you agree that you needed God’s strength most of all and also good health?  As Christians,…

  • How To BE Without BEing Stressed!

I’m afraid that I may have left you with the wrong impression in my last post (TO BE or NOT TO BE in 2019).  Did you take it that I said you should BE something spectacular?  To pile onto your already-filled-plate to BE more?  To BE better?  Maybe even to outBE others?  What pressure! Part of BEing who God wants us to BE is BEing at rest in Him. BEing at peace.  BEing content to simply BE who He calls us to BE. Yesterday This morning in my happy place (where it’s just God and me, alone without distraction), I was reading the passages and questions from a 50-day personal…
