A friend at church recently commented that I didn’t have my walking stick with me. I told him I’d chunked it! At the time, I’d decided to keep the stick in my car rather than in my hand because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). Can I get an AMEN?
Granted, I’m not in a wheelchair. I’m blessed to have only needed a stick for steadying my steps. I’m NOT saying you need to chunk your stick necessarily if you need one to keep you from falling. And definitely don’t chunk your wheel chair if you need it!
Today, I’m sharing something God imparted to me recently. And it all begins with taking action in faith.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for,
the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
I had assurance from the Lord nearly one year ago that if I would restore my temple (which ultimately is HIS temple), all would be well in the end.
Do you always believe God immediately? Enough to do exactly as He directs, even when the road is lonely and uncertain, twisty and rocky with ups and downs? Just when I was accustomed to and sort of on auto-pilot with a healthy eating plan for strength, it happened.
I had a bit of a scare – that maybe the cancer pill wasn’t working. Did I stand steady and strong in faith, or did I allow fear to consume me? I wish I could tell you I took the former as my stance, but I did not. I panicked (at least on the inside). Is anyone else with me here?
After testing revealed something minor that isn’t related to cancer or MS at all, I had to laugh and ask the Lord to forgive me for my gut reaction that revealed a lack of faith.
…Lord, I believe; help my unbelief. (Mark 9:24b)
In the following days, I found scriptures that supported the idea of acting on faith before seeing results.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving yourselves. (James 1:22)So also faith by itself, if it does not have works,
is dead. (James 2:17)
There are many more verses like this that discuss faith and works. I take the term works to mean works for others, and I wasn’t so sure they applied to my situation. And that’s when this glaring example appeared:
And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
‘Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.’
‘Master, Simon replied, ‘we worked hard all last night and
didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.’
And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear!
(Luke 5:4-6)
So, in faith, I set the walking stick aside after months of following the road God had set before me.
A couple of weeks later, I realized God was giving me better balance and stability. And, it continues to get better and better. I now climb the stairs several times each day with armloads of stuff instead of holding the railing. Praise God! I no longer hug the walls without my walking stick.
Praise Jesus! He died for you and me! By his stripes, we are healed. And, we need to act like it.
When you’re praying for healing, take a step of faith or some sort of action as a statement of your faith that the healing will happen. Our Father is our Mighty Healer and All Powerful Loving God and so much more!
Do you feel it? What steps will you take in faith?
His blessings~

Kim, what wonderful news. Your faith is a testimony to our great and powerful God. I am reminded we only have to have faith the size of a mustard seed. Blessings sweet friend!
Kim
Yes, and mustard seeds are so tiny. We tend to focus on only what we see, and God is so much bigger than that! Thank you for your encouragement, Pam. Hugs! 🙂
