Lemonade Stand - Life Changes

When Life Gives You Lemons, Put Up a Lemonade Stand!

Welcome to my lemonade stand!  (Actually, that’s my daughter and her friend in our driveway many years ago with their lemonade stand.)  Lifestyle changes can be good.  Embrace This Season represents my focus on healthy living by growing gracefully through my fall season of life – and on into the winter season in future years.

I’ve had a blog going for five years (at Curtain Queen Creates) where I encourage women to create the home they love to live in. It’s been a lot of fun, and inspiration flooded my soul at a feverish pitch for home projects over four and a half years.

And then the flow of inspiration stopped.  Project ideas didn’t come easily anymore.  Suddenly, I had to search for ideas on Pinterest!

Would that cause you to sit up and take notice like it did me?  Since God inspired that original blog in the first place, He kept my project ideas flowing through the years of my lifestyle blogging.  When those ideas stopped, I saw it as the Lord beginning a transition of some sort.

In May, I finished developing the third on-line sewing course for home decor, and I was excited about them – but was also ready for “normal” life again.  My time and energy were stretched too thin the year prior as I created the courses and continued publishing four to five blog posts each week.  In the end, I felt zapped, sucked dry, and needed a lifestyle change.

I passed the official five-year blog anniversary this fall when I had a sudden health issue appear.  Double vision.

Have you ever experienced double vision?  It isn’t quite like I would have expected.  Thankfully, I can read at times (in certain lighting), but I walk like an old lady drunkard.  And, I’m not even aging  officially yet.  Right?  What age is that, anyway?  Ha!

The double vision caused things to be very hard to do projects for post topics much less edit pictures and write the posts themselves.  That’s when it hit me that God was up to something for sure.  He has such a sense of humor, that Stinker!  🙂

Let’s back up three years.

I transformed an old drawer into a tray for a project post.  I painted the words embrace this season in the bottom of the drawer.

Embrace This Season for Lifestyle Changes

Those words stuck in my mind like glue, so I thought God was wanting me to start a second blog at that time.  I couldn’t imagine two blogs.  I was far too busy with only one!  No clear answer came, so I waited.

Now we’re back to two weeks ago.

After I paused publishing blog posts at Curtain Queen Creates a couple of weeks ago, I got some much-needed rest between visits to doctors and specialists.  That’s when clarity came, and God showed me His plan.

Voila!  This new blog, a revamped focus for Curtain Queen Creates, and a lifestyle change.  We’re marching forward gracefully as we grow through our fall and winter seasons.

I’d love for you to join me – and bring your friends along!

Hi and welcome! It's wonderful to have fellow "embracers" during some pretty tough seasons - and some triumphant ones, too. I invite you to enroll to receive my blog posts by email so you don't miss what's coming next.

I have loved and enjoyed your blog although I’m a “Johnny come lately”. Have been praying for your health and will continue doing so. I love your creativity and the beauty you share. For me I have missed your Sunday posts the most. Your internal beauty really shines through on Sunday. I am looking forward to the new blog. But please, your health comes first. Blessings to you and yours.

Thanks so much for your prayers, Judybee. (Love your name!) Since I don’t plan to write Sunday posts, I hope to convey spiritual aspects in every post. (Yes, I’m taking resting seriously, I promise.) I truly see this as our spin-off group that embraces our season of life. I’ve been calling us “the embracers” – just for fun. Ha! I hope you don’t mind!

Thank you. I’ve learned the hard way not to argue with God. Figured I might as well go with it! I’m on a real powder pink kick this year. I enjoyed making this site simply, easily, and quickly. I’m so glad you and others are coming along! 🙂

Kim, we are all along for the ride & will be supporting you in this blog. Unfortunately I can not sew so I will be following this wonderful and inspiring blog!! However, your tablescapes have so inspired me so much!! So glad you are listening to God & allowing Him in this season to continue to bless you as well as us. Rest & relax, keep your focus on God & your family! We are so happy for you in this endeavor!! I love how God has given you his “God winks” along your journey! Praying big for you & your eyes🙏❤️😍

Thank you, Penny! There are many readers at CQC who don’t sew. The thought of changing to sewing only content made me sad. God worked it all out, for He knows the desires of our hearts. I am looking forward to this “restul season” as we travel through the holidays and on into next year. God gives such peace when we’re in His will. I’m glad you’re here!

Where others would just see a bowl full of sour lemons you see the bright beautiful yellow color, and the wonderful shape, texture and possibilities! That is what happens when you seek God!
I’m ready for this new adventure!

  • Rhonda

Hello there Kim!! I am right with you as we embrace our 50’s!!! I too can tell that I am beginning to slow down. I am trying to appreciate it gracefully so I am excited that you are making this the focus of your new blog. So, if we are going to have to do this, we might as well do it right, is my motto!! Let’s go Girl.

    • Kim

Thank you, Rhonda. Everyone has been so kind about this. Your encouragement blesses me and gives me another layer o thankfulness. God has spoken so clearly that He is in this. Wouldn’t have it any other way! 🙂
