• Psalm 91

    Messianic Psalm of Life

Welcome to this week’s Faithfulness Friday! Since last week’s Faithfulness Friday post, Psalm 90, A Psalm of Death, I noticed people in the on-line world examining Psalm 91 more intently.  Psalm 91 is identified in some commentaries as the Psalm of Life.  As we saw last week, there is much about life in the 90th Psalm, too. While in these weeks of an altered life, staying home in seclusion and hopefully protected from the spread of Covid-19, we get so much encouragement from the psalms.  Psalm 91 provides comfort, revealing God’s protection for His children when encountering the dangers of life. This psalm also reveals the coming Messiah, our Lord…

  • Psalm 90

A Psalm of Death – Not the End of the Story

Our focus for today’s Faithfulness Friday is Psalm 90.  The 90th was the first psalm written and penned by Moses himself while winding up the desert wandering years with God’s people.  (I discovered this on Monday when reading my copy of The One Year Chronological Bible – *Amazon link, commission affiliate.) During the forty years of wandering and waiting to enter the promised land, Moses saw over two million people die.  His psalm is known as the psalm of death.  Moses begins his psalm by elevating God, our Creator in verses 1-2. “Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!  Before the mountains were created, before you made…

    The Promise Gifter

“I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor with me, and I know you by name.” (Exodus 33:17) Welcome to Faithfulness Friday!  Are you uncertain about tomorrow?  Of course.  We all are.  But we need not be fearful.  I see so much reaction in panic and fear.  The Lord tells us multiple times in His Word not to fear.  He is in control. Our God is faithful and true.  He will get us through the next few weeks/months.  The future may look bleak, but we have He Who is Most Powerful upon which to gaze! I wrote this verse on the chalk board “cheese…

  • Skilled Craftsmen

    The Gift of Craftsmanship

“Moreover, I have given special skill to all the gifted craftsmen so they can make all the things I have commanded you to make.” (Exodus 31:6b) Welcome to Faithfulness Friday!  After a dip into the New Testament last Friday, we’re back in the Old Testament this week – in chapter 31 of Exodus. I remember reading the passages about the early tabernacle tent design intently after I’d been sewing window treatments for the public for several years.  I enjoyed working creatively and liked the feeling that God had gifted me for it. I was blown away by the intricacy of God’s detailed instructions for the curtains used for temple “tent…

  • Ending Times and Tickling Ears

Welcome to Faithfulness Friday!  Today, our focus snippet scriptures are highlighted from reading 2nd Timothy, chapters 3-4.  I love the stories of the Old Testament, but I was craving some Jesus.  What we all need, right?  Jesus …. So, let’s dive into the New Testament (at least for today). Many of us recognize the nearing end times in our world.  The craziness of how social media is about arguing and bickering, back-biting and hatefulness.  As a Christian, it seems I am the enemy of many.  Bible-teaching preachers and their church members are viewed as an enemy of those who say Christians are the “haters”. These verses in 2nd Timothy appear…

  • All Things. All!

    My Personal Faithfulness Praise

Welcome to Faithfulness Friday! We’ve had nearly two months to review God’s faithfulness in scripture, which is great, right?  Have you enjoyed it as much as I have? For today, I felt God leading me to share my own experience with God’s faithfulness over the last two and a half years.  Ignoring it seems to be, well, ignoring all God has done.  And, I don’t want to do that when He deserves all the praise – and when you might be encouraged by it in your own tough season. This verse particularly grabbed me today. He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all,…

  • God Lavishes His Love

His Love, His Strength – Our Smallness

“The Lord did not choose you and lavish his love on you because you were larger or greater than other nations, for you were the smallest of the nations!  It was simply because the Lord loves you, and because he was keeping the oath he had sworn to your ancestors.” (Deuteronomy 7:7-8). Welcome back to Faithfulness Friday. I missed you last Friday!  How was your Valentine’s Day? Hubs and I took a trip for Valentine’s weekend, part of which included taking in the World War II Museum in New Orleans (a must-see).  New Orleans served us, along with loads of Mardi Gras fans (not a fan myself), some yummy new-to-me…

  • Psalm 30.5

    Protecting Your Joy

“They mourned and wept and fasted all day for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the Lord’s army and the nation of Israel, because so many had died that day.” (2 Samuel 1:12) Welcome to Faithfulness Friday!  For the most benefit, first read (or listen to it on your Bible app) 2nd Samuel, chapter one.  Good stuff, y’all. Can you identify with David and his men in their grief over their great loss of King Saul and Jonathan? Are you currently mourning a loss?  What tragedies have you suffered?  The death of a loved one, death of a relationship, loss of a home, a job, your health, your marriage,…

  • Queen A

    Are You a Queen A?

When Athaliah, the mother of King Ahaziah of Judah, learned that her son was dead, she began to destroy the rest of Judah’s royal family.” (2 Chronicles 22:10) Welcome to Faithfulness Friday!  If this is your first time here to Faithfulness Friday, let me explain. When in a tough season, one of the most beneficial things we can do is to get regular, fresh reminders of God’s faithfulness.  No matter what you are going through, no matter your faith level at this point, no matter your faithfulness to the Lord, He is faithful to you as His child.  If you are a Christian, “His child” means you. Our faithfulness study…

  • Alliance Troubles

    The Trouble With Alliances

Be very careful never to make a treaty with the people who live in the land where you are going.  If you do, you will follow their evil ways and be trapped. (Exodus 34:12) Welcome to Faithfulness Friday!  I’m thrilled you are here. 🙂  Today’s focus will (again!) be on chapters 17-20 of 2nd Chronicles.  You might be glad to hear that this is our final week on these chapters. Last week, in our Need for Making a List, we looked at the events in fiery orange that were against God’s directions.  Do you ever wish for a loud buzzer with bright orange, flashing lights to warn you of trouble…

  • Necessary List

When You Need to Stop and Make a List

Welcome to Faithfulness Friday!  Our chapters for today are the same ones from these last two weeks – 2nd Chronicles, chapters 17-20.  So rich, y’all. You may or may not be a list embracer, but sometimes I’m all about a list. When studying the Bible, listing certain things can be helpful.  After the first Faithfulness Friday post, the original plan was to move on to another book of the Bible entirely.  I’d already written the next post, which you’ll see later this month (or next – we’ll see). When publishing that first post (Your Victory Faith Song), I knew God had more for us to see before leaving those 2nd…

  • always more

    Always More

Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting. (2 Chronicles 20:3) Welcome to Faithfulness Friday!  If you read the chapters from last week’s post (2 Chronicles 17-20), you are good to go for today. There are so many tidbits to cover in 2 Chronicles 17-20 that I must go back and point out more.  That goes to show you . . . you can never glean every last thing from scripture.  Keep digging. There is no last thing.  There is always more. I’m so glad you are here with me, combing through scripture for examples of God’s…

  • Your victory faith song

    Your Victory Faith Song

Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, “A great multitude is coming against you from Edom, from beyond the sea; and, behold, they are in Hazazon-tamar.” (2 Chronicles 20:2) Welcome to the very first Faithfulness Friday!  I’m so glad you decided to join me, and for our study today, we are examining: 2 Chronicles, chapters 17-20. For the most benefit, read these chapters first yourself.  Then return here for more specific study. When Jehoshaphat took over as King after the death of his father Asa, he fortified Judah.  The Lord blessed Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of Asa’s early years as king, obeying the Lord our God. As you read…

Faithfulness Friday Bible Study in 2020

In our tough seasons, we need to stand on God’s Word.  We should continually remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness to His people throughout the Bible. A little back story: The Jubilee Journey Facebook Group women and I read straight through the Bible together in 2015, and the group leaders allowed me to write a summary post for one day’s reading during each week, sometimes two. It was my first time to read through the Bible in the way that we did that year.  I’d followed other reading plans but not straight through.  I enjoyed it so much that I returned to repeat that reading plan three of the four years…
